Lok Chetna Manch works in the area of Advocacy and Research, Animal Husbandry, Dairying & Fisheries, Animal Welfare, Children, Education & Literacy, Environment and natural resource management, Health & Nutrition, Panchayati Raj, Right to Information & Advocacy, Rural Development & Poverty Alleviation, Vocational Training, Women’s Development & Empowerment, etc. Our organization works towards the promotion of sustainable development. The organization operates in Uttarakhand, India.
The vision of Lok Chetna Manch (LCM) has been to work relentlessly for improving and transforming the concept, condition, behaviour and opportunities in the hill region, to usher in an ideal and oppression free society. The mission of our dedicated volunteers is to invoke an atmosphere where environment protection, upliftment of women folk, care and education of children, sustainable development and improvement of health of the community can be achieved by eradicating social evil and enhancing the capacity of common man.
Some projects which LOK CHETNA MANCH has been involved in since 2003
- Completed 3 years Agriculture Diversification Programme in 17 villages of Dhauladevi block (Distt. Almora) in May 2003 under the aegis of Uttaranchal DASP. Also formed 48 SHGs in these 17 villages.
- Started Afforestation Programme in Almora distt. with the support of NAEB, Ministry of Environment & Forests with the goal of planting 80000 fodder plants to meet the requirement of village Chaukuni and Mauna.
- Successfully completed evaluation of FDA programme of forests department in Almora, Corbett Tiger Reserve and Kedarnath Wildlife Division
- Awareness and training of Village Committees and Forest Officials to execute the FDA programme successfully is being conducted since March 2006
- Three months campaign to save Steppe Eagles was also concluded successfully and 21 Eagles were saved in the process without any external support. The efforts were also recognised and duly appreciated by Wildlife Trust of India.
- A Nursery is established to raise 100000 sapling of fodder for villages which are facing problem due to fodder scarcity. The programme was supported by Sir Dorabji Tata Trust Mumbai.
